PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Red Cross has been called in to help people forced out of their homes in O'Hara, Sharpsburg and other areas hard hit by Monday night's flooding.

Pastor David Rike moved into his house along Fox Chapel Rd in O'Hara just two weeks ago from Florida after surviving three hurricanes.

“[We] never had any damage to our house in Florida and we’ve been here about 15 days and this happens, but this is an unusual even I understand.”

Rike adds the flood waters were very strong.

“My wife’s car got all swirled around in the garage downstairs and the washing machine is upside down.”

Next door, the house where Elizabeth Clay lives with her young family can't be saved

“It’s just a wreck in there and it’s tough. It’s tough to go through it all and see things I saved from when my daughter was a baby that’s it’s just all gone now.”

The Old Freeport Rd business district is devastated. Damage estimates will run in the millions.
