PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — The 29th handgun of the year was stopped at a Pittsburgh International Airport security checkpoint.

Transportation Security Administration officials say an Austintown, Ohio woman had a loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun in her carry-on bag on Thursday.

She was questioned by Allegheny County Police and faces a civil penalty.

The fine for a first-time offense of bringing a handgun to a checkpoint is typically $3,900.

Last year, 37 firearms were stopped at PIT’s TSA checkpoints.
