Pitt Cyber Launches Task Force to Prevent Bias

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) -  Algorithms may hold the key to making government more efficient.

Pitt’s Institute for Cyber Law, Policy and Security is looking at a system being used by the County’s Department of Human Services to see if algorithms can be used to reduce racial disparities.

Founding Director David Hickton tells KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes-Freeland a newly created task force is going to look at ways algorithms can be used to do everything from reduce racial

disparities to help judges make bail decisions.
