PITTSBRUGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Fifty four pounds of heroin, fentanyl and other drugs were confiscated after a seven month undercover operation in Westmoreland County.

Agents from state Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s office headed the operation with state and local police.

Shapiro says heroin and fentanyl are still dominant drugs here, “We saw for the first time last year that drug overdose deaths involving fentanyl for the first time eclipsed heroin in terms of the drug used in that death.”

The operation netted 89 suspects, took in 13 illegal guns and 113-thousand dollars in cash.
