PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Monday marks the first day open again for many businesses in the area after more COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.

Some workers returned to the office on Monday and more retail stores that didn’t open on Friday are allowing customers in today.

The Port Authority has restarted dozens of bus routes with social distancing rules still in effect.

But Pennsylvania’s Speaker of the House Mike Turzai tells the KDKA Radio Morning Show efforts to reopen should be further along.

“This crayon box approach is not really what we need to address, the economic crisis that we have in front of us,” said Turzai.

Turzai is also calling for swimming pools and youth sports to reopen. Pittsburgh and Allegheny County have closed pools and team sports for the summer.
