PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto says police are still investigating what sparked a fight at a Downtown McDonald’s Monday night that ended with one man hospitalized with a spinal injury.

The mayor says he has seen the video taken by a passer-by Monday night outside the Wood Street McDonald’s.

“What surprised me is the amount of time that it went on without any management or control from McDonald’s being involved with the employees to de-escalate the situation,” said Peduto.

“The situation got out of control and stayed out of control for a prolonged period and I don’t understand where the management was at the time,” Peduto added.

McDonald’s employee, 25-year-old Roneese Davis, is charged with aggravated assault.

Wednesday afternoon charges were filed against another employee.

Kaniya Martin is facing simple assault charges.

62-year-old Mark Conn of the South Hills was struck by Davis, fell unconscious and has had surgery for a spinal injury.

Police also found a woman, identified as Conn’s girlfriend Billie Jo Goldsworthy had been pepper-sprayed.

Police say Conn and Goldsworthy were inside the restaurant when Davis confronted them causing an argument.

The Davis grabbed the couple and forced them outside.

"A group of females surrounded and assaulted the female victim, which included the use of pepper spray. The male tried to intervene and was assaulted.”

Police Continue to Investigate and the store's owner is reportedly cooperating with police.
