Bus Crash Downtown Leaves 28 Ballet Students Injured

All injuries are reported to be minor

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A crash involving two buses downtown near the intersection of Grant Street and Seventh Avenue left 28 ballet students injured Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say it happened around 5:50 p.m. as the students were traveling from Chatham University, hosting a summer ballet program, to the Gateway Clipper.

The Pittsburgh department of Public Safety said in a release that one bus rear-ended the second causing minor damage to both.

All of the injuries are reported to be minor but a Mass Casualty Incident was declared to due to the number of injuries.

The injured, mainly female students range in age from 12 to 21. Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
