PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — There was a stabbing early Friday afternoon at the Allegheny County Jail, putting the facility under lockdown.

Investigators say it happened shortly before 1 p.m. when two corrections officers at the jail were stabbed by a pair of inmates in Block 7E, a maximum security portion of the jail's general population wing.

Officials say officers were conducting a random cell search in a maximum security pod when 19-year-old inmate Dakil Blair and 20-year-old inmate Douglas Lockett attacked an officer.

Additional officers helped subdue the inmates, who have been moved to restrictive housing.

“Both officers obtained several stab wounds,” Warden Orlando Harper said. “They were treated by medical staff at the facility and transported to local hospitals for further medical treatment.”
