Pittsburgh Native and "Vogues" Lead Singer Dies

PITTSBURGH - (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The lead singer of a musical group that made it from Turtle Creek to the top of the charts has died.

Bill Burkette was part of the great harmony that was The Vogues.

Just a few years out of Turtle Creek High School they had hits like My Special Angel, Five O'Clock World, You're The One, Turn Around Look At Me and Magic Town

The commercial success lasted from the mid 60's well in to the 70's Bill Burkette later worked for a home improvement company here.

He was 75.

Some of the groups biggest hits incliude...

"Turn Around Look At Me" which went to #7 in 1968...

"You're The One" was a top 10 hit in 1965...

"Magic Town" was a top 40 hit in 1970...
