PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh Police in Zone 4,which includes Squirrel Hill, have placed special “Stronger than Hate” decals on their vehicles in response to the October 27 shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill that left 11 dead and 6 injured, including 4 police officers.

In a release Tuesday Commander Eric Holmes said that it is a way to show the commitment they have the communities they service as well as honoring and supporting police who are of the Jewish faith.

“Pittsburgh has a storied history that includes the Steel industry, the Steelers, and since 1857 the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police,” Holmes continued. “Hate is NOT part of our DNA. Placing these decals on our vehicles in Zone 4 is a small way to reflect on our shared history and to show that we stand together as one."

The decals that were designed with help from the Pittsburgh Steelers will remain on the vehicles through January.
