Police Arrest Suspect Wanted In The Strangling Death Of 23-Month-Old

Deasha Ringgold is charged with homicide and endangering the welfare of a child

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A woman has turned herself in after an arrest warrant was issued Monday for the  April strangling death of a 23-month-old girl.

Deasha Ringgold was watching her boyfriend’s daughter, Aubree Sherrell, on April 27 when she says she found the infant unresponsive and not breathing. Aubree was transported via private vehicle to a Jefferson Hills hospital and then flown to UPMC children’s Hospital but the child died later that day.

An autopsy the next day showed bruising near Aubree’s neck prompting and investigation.

On Monday detectives secured and arrest warrant for Ringgold saying “it was determined that Ringgold had inflicted injuries to the child which caused her death.”

Allegheny County Police said Monday in a release "RInggold  turned herself  in and will be lodged in the Allegheny County Jail to wait arraignment."
