PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Leo Gerard will retire as the United Steelworkers President in July.

He joined Larry and John this morning on KDKA Radio to discuss the future of steel and to explain what is going on with the trade war between the United States and China.

“China cheats,” Gerard said.

“No matter what you do, unless you can block them out of your market, they’ll just cheat. If you’re selling steel for a dollar, they’ll sell it for 95 cents.”

The United States is trying to enforce and modernize America’s trade laws.

“The fight with us is not about tariffs; it’s about creating a level playing field so that we’re competing on solid level ground, and any country that cheats should be punished,” Gerard explains.
