PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The public viewing for fallen Pittsburgh Police Officer Calvin Hall got underway Monday at noon.

KDKA Radio's Joe DeStio was outside Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall.

Police from several local departments paid their respects in the early afternoon at Soldiers and Sailors  in Oakland.

In addition to officers, civilians passed through the hall to show their respects to Officer Hall who died three days after being shot in the back.

He reportedly tried to break up an altercation at a party in Homewood last Sunday when he was shot while walking away.

Outside of Soldiers and Sailors, Officer Hall’s police cruiser is parked to the side with a blue wreath attached to the front grill, its lights flashing.

The media was not allowed inside but we are told that some of the family’s favorite music played, including Steve Wonder.

Still photos of Officer Hall were also on display inside Soldiers and Sailors.

Officer Hall’s funeral is scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Soldiers and Sailors and will be followed by his burial at Homewood Cemetery.

Calvin Hall was 36.
