14 Percent Rate Increase Coming For PWSA Costumers

The hike will add about $9 a month to the bill

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority costumers getting hit with a rate increase.

A 14 percent hike has been granted by the state Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.

It could go into effect by the end of the month. The extra $21 million a year will go toward replacing old pipes in the city.

The hike will add about $9 a month to a water and sewer bill that already averages about $64 a month.
