GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Wagner Says Gov. Wolf Better Wear A Catcher's Mask Until Election Day

Wagner's campaign says the comments are not to be taken literally

YORK, Pa (Newsradio 1020 KDKA - During a Facebook Live post Friday, GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Scott Wagner warned Governor Tom Wolf that he should wear a catcher’s mask between now and Election Day.

“Because I’m going to stomp all over your face with golf spikes because I’m going to win this for the state of Pennsylvania and we’re throwing you out of office because I’m sick and tired of your negative ads,” said Wagner.

In a statement from Wagner's campaign they clarified "Scott's comments were not to be taken literally. He wanted them to be a metaphor for how he will approach the final stretch of the campaign. Tom Wolf has spent the entire race hiding behind false and negative attack ads like a coward instead of debating in front of the people of Pennsylvania and Scott will spend the last month of the race making it clear to voters why they should not give him a second term."

This comes after a senior communications advisor for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party said earlier this week, “Scott Wagner is beginning to fly the white flag because he knows Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike know he’s the worst of Harrisburg.”

During the live video in York, PA Wagner was in front of a billboard that claims his company Penn Waste sued almost 7,000 Pennsylvanians.

Wagner says the reason for the lawsuits is because the people were not paying for services his company rendered.

Wagner also said in the video that Wolf is hurting small businesses.

“I actually thought you were smarter, you’re really not very smart,” said Wagner. “You’re telling people that you’re the small business governor. I tell you I want to puke when I see those ads.”

Wagner claims the nine month budget standoff in 2015 caused many small businesses to close because of the budget standoff.
