PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Fans of WQED documentary producer Rick Sebak have been asking him for years, “When are you going to make another Kennywood Memories?”

Well, Sebak says fans will finally (sort of) get their wish.

The Pittsburgh icon joined the “KDKA Radio Morning News” Wednesday to talk about the latest in the “Nebby” series, which was funded through Kickstarter. Sebak calls it a 21st century pledge campaign.

With the 4th in the series, “Pittsburgh Vintage Mixer”, now out what’s next?

“That Kennywood Summer” will use “lost footage” from the original “Kennywood Memories” in 1988.

“[Kennywood Memories> is turning 30 years old. It premiered on September 28 1988 . . . and I said wouldn’t it be fun to celebrate that anniversary.”

Sebak says he is beginning the process of going back and looking through the over 40 hours of footage from the original “Kennywood Memories”.

“The assistant editors Anne and Andrew and Amy . . . have been loading the footage into our computer editing system,” said Sebak. “It’s not hi-def, it’s not wide-screen, it’s old school but it should be fun to see some of this stuff.”

“That Kennywood Summer” premiers on September 20 on WQED.
