PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Pittsburgh’s North Shore is getting another hotel. This one will be connected to Rivers Casino.

Rush Street Gaming has announced it expects to break ground later this summer on The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh. The $60 million, 219 room hotel will connect to the casino on the east side across from the Carnegie Science Center.

“It’s going to be very contemporary. It’s going to be seven stories,” says Rivers General Manager Bill Keena. “It will have a connecting to the casino on the first floor and the third floor.”

Initial approval for the hotel came in 2017. The development was postponed following the approval of state legislation that allowed so-called “mini-casinos”

“Statewide gaming expansion changed our schedule, but never our intentions,” according to Rush Street Gaming CEO Greg Carlin. “We see it as a natural evolution.”

The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh is expected to create 128 permanent new hotel and casino jobs along with 1,400 temporary construction jobs, according to a company statement.

A ribbon cutting is expected in early 2021.
