PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - There will be road closures and delays around the city of Pittsburgh throughout the entire weekend.

Steve Cowan, PennDOT District 11 Press Officer, joined KDKA Radio on Friday to discuss what roads will be affected. He also gives an update on the Parkway North.

The outbound Parkway East will be restricted beginning tonight. Cowan tells KDKA while the paving project is canceled due to weather, the same restrictions will stay in place, “so they can work on the bridge dam replacement.  They also are going to be doing the longitudinal joint repair on eastbound I-376 between Churchill and Monroeville.”

It will be a single lane until Monday morning.

The Parkway North will be undergoing some finishing touches as well;

“They are going to be removing barrier, painting new lines and eradicating paint lines,” Cowan said.

Besides some traffic shifts and single lane restrictions (all overnight), the Parkway North will be back to original form on Monday.

They will also be working on Forbes Avenue until Sunday morning at 6:00am. Cowan tells Larry and John PennDOT will be “concrete patching a lane from Craft Ave to Bigelow Boulevard. That starts tonight at 8 o’clock.”

This will create one and two lane restrictions, and a lot of congestion around Oakland.

He anticipates the HOV Lane re-opening on August 31st.

“Open it that evening, leave it open outbound through Labor Day, then resume normal function that following Tuesday,” Cowan added.

Be sure to look for alternative route if you will be traveling along any of these roads.
