PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - With the issue of separating children from thier parents who illegally cross the border becoming increasingly volatile, a key meeting is set today between President Trump and House Republicans.

The administration is under increasing criticism for the policy, which Mr. Trump says is required by law and can only be ended by Congress. But a Pittsburgh area Congressman agrees with detractors who says separation of children from parents must end.

In an interview with KDKA Radio's Joe DeStio, Republican Keith Rothfus broke with the president on the issue, though he's cautious. "Children should not be separated from their parents. We gotta be very careful, we want to make sure the kids that are coming here are actually with their parents. We know we have had trafficking issues along the border."

Its less complicated for Democrats. Congressman Mike Doyle places the blame squarely on the President's zero tolerance policy. And Rep. Connor Lamb calls separation wrong and cruel.

The House will consider two Republican bills. One gives a path to citizenship for illegals brought here as children.
