PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding are closing roads, parks and business to close early Wednesday.

Downed wires on Route 910 at Interstate 79 is causing major delays. I-79 is closed in both directions at the Mt. Nebo interchange and I-279 northbound is closed.

You cannot get on I-79 southbound at Warrendale and they’ve stopped southbound traffic just after Rt. 228.

Avoid Route 19 and McKnight Road, those roads are handling the brunt of the traffic.

In addition part of Rt. 68 is closed in Industry, Beaver County due to flooding.

In Allegheny Township in Westmoreland county Rt. 356 is closed between White Cloud Road and the Freeport Bridge due to downed wires.

Heavy rain in many other places is causing flooding. Remember do not drive through any standing water.

Kennywood Park closed its gates at 3:30. Those who were at the park during the time of closure were able to get a ticket to come back another time this summer.

North and South Park’s golf courses have also closed for the day and plan to reopen tomorrow.
