PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - AccuWeather says the Pittsburgh area could experience some severe weather Tuesday afternoon and evening

Meteorologist Heather Zehr tells KDKA Radio, “The biggest threat we have to watch for, for the rest of today is going to be flooding down pours.  We’ve already seen some storms in the area even through the morning hours that have had some very heavy rain fall with them and that’s going to continue to be a threat throughout the day.”

Zehr adds, “In terms of storms that can bring damaging winds, that is also a possibility for this afternoon.  Those storms are most likely to be during the middle to later part of the afternoon and that is when we could see some wind gusts that top 55 miles per hour.”

There is also a very slight chance for a tornado somewhere in the area, but looks to be more of an issue for North Western Pennsylvania on up to Western New York.

Showers will continue into Wednesday but will be nowhere near as severe as they were Tuesday.

Come Thursday there will be sunshine and low humidity and temperatures in the 70’s.
