ALTOONA, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Beginning Tuesday all 600 Sheetz convenience store locations will offer in-store scan and go options for customers to further reduce interaction with workers at checkout lines.

This new feature continues to deliver on our mission to be the ultimate in convenience, allowing customers to scan and pay for items they need easily and quickly,” said Travis Sheetz, President & COO of Sheetz, Inc. “Innovation has always been a key driver at Sheetz and we will continue to look for new, innovative ways to serve our customers and provide essential needs in these uncertain times.”

The “SHcan & Go” feature is available on the Sheetz app and can be used for snacks and drinks but is not available to gas, age-restricted items including tobacco and alcohol or Made-to-order food or coffee items.

MTO and coffee items can be ordered through the Sheetz app and purchased separately through the app or online.

It’s among the number of changes that Sheetz has made in the past few weeks at its stores including suspending self-serve coffee, drinks and bakery items.

The convenience chain is also encouraging social distancing and has enhanced cleaning procedures.

Sheetz has also increased employee hourly wages $3 during the virus outbreak and is offering free kids meals.
