IOWA, (Newradio 1020 KDKA) - Carson King was in the crowd at ESPN’s College GameDay show in Iowa this past weekend holding up a sign as a joke that said, “Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished –Venmo – Caron-King-25.”

That joke has since turned into a large donation that will go to a children’s hospital and the amount keeps growing.

King tells KDKA Radio’s Wendy Bell, “Within 30 minutes my friend Tyler was like ‘Hey who keeps blowing you up’ . . . I look down and it wasn’t text, it was Venmo and I had over $400 in my Venmo account.”

At $600 King realized he should donate the money to charity.

He says he talked to his family decided would donate everything raised to the University of Iowa’s Children’s Hospital, except for the cost of that one case of Busch Light.

King says that Busch Beer got ahold of him via Twitter and said they would match whatever King can raise on Venmo through the end of the month.

“Venmo got on board and did the same thing so anything anyone sends me at my Venmo 'Carson-King-25' gets tripled before it’s sent to the hospital by the end of the month.

King tells Bell that as of Thursday afternoon he has raised $102,000.

King says he is a big Iowa State fan but will put the rivalry with the University of Iowa aside for the betterment of children.
