Six More Port Authority Employees Test Positive For COVID-19

    PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Port Authority has announced six new cases of COVID-19 in employees bringing the total of those infected to 27.

     A service person at the East Liberty Garage and a mechanic in the Auto Shop at South Hills Junction tested positive on July 9.

    Two bus operators at the East Liberty Garage, and an employee who works in the light rail Systems and Power Department at South Hills Junction tested positive on July 10

    A bus operator at the West Mifflin Garage tested positive on July 11.

    Two of the cases say they recently traveled out of state, two likely got it from family members and another has been hospitalized. The sixth case has been in self-quarantine since Saturday.

    All areas where employees who tested positive have been deep cleaned and Port Authority’s System Safety Department is conducting contract tracing investigations.

    Any employees who were in close contact with those who have tested positive are being held off of work until they are medically cleared to return.

    All cases have been reported to the Allegheny County Health Department.

    Those who have tested positive and are being held out for safety reasons will continue to be paid.
