PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - An African-American baby doll was found hanging by its neck from a light post in Homewood Thursday. It was discovered at the intersection of Brushton Avenue and Mohler Street.

Community members contacted their State Representative Ed Gainey, who is now calling for answers.

He tells KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes-Freeland he is sickened by the incident, which he believes is racially-motivated.

“More importantly we got to have a conversation about race in this city. It’s becoming too alarming too many times,” said Gainey.

Gainey doesn’t believe anyone in the community could’ve done it.

“It couldn’t have been done by (anyone) in the community because you need a lift to get that high up in the air and it’s a sick feeling, whoever did it,” said Gainey.

Pittsburgh firefighters removed the doll.

The mayor's office is aware of the incident. Pittsburgh Police are looking at video from nearby surveillance cameras trying to identify who is responsible. Firefighters have since removed the doll.
