HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A state senator is calling for the resignation of Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine.

Franklin County Senator Doug Mastriano says Dr. Levine’s actions played a major role in the large number of coronavirus cases and deaths in nursing homes.

Mastriano claims Levin’s policy for COVID-19 patients being released from hospitals to return to their nursing home or long-term care facility contributed to major viral outbreaks in nursing homes around the commonwealth.

“Both the Governor and the Secretary of Health continue to move the goal posts regarding the COVID-19 health crisis, while thinking of new and creative ways of violating the civil liberties of our citizens,” said Mastriano, while pointing out that Secretary Levine’s medical background involves pediatrics and psychiatry.

“This lack of training is evident, and has resulted in some of the most draconian measures implemented in the nation, with avoidable deaths, and irreparable damage to our citizens,” added Mastriano.
