PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - After the Steelers arrival to Latrobe a day ago, training camp is set to begin this afternoon.

Burt Lauten, Steelers Communication Coordinator, joined KDKA Radio on Thursday to tell us about training camp and all of the events happening around it.

“Camp opens every day at noon and runs through august 14,” Lauten said.

Practice begins around 2:55pm and goes until 5:15pm.

Players will be available to sign autographs throughout camp as well. According to Lauten, one of the better spots to find players is,

“The lower part of Chuck Noll field or up by the locker rooms.” He continued,

“As long as it’s not inclement weather, the players sign almost every day. You’re not going to get the quarterback every day, you’re not going to get the wide receiver every day, but our guys do an amazing job at taking care of the fans up here.”

There are fun activities for kids and a place to buy souvenirs;

“We have a play 60 Fun Zone for kids and the Steelers Pro Shop tent,” Lauten tells KDKA.

When training camp wraps up, fans can attend a practice at Heinz Field for the Annual Family Fest on August 19th.

“We have Heinz field set up just like games, because we know that not everyone can attend our games. So we open up pretty much the entire stadium to make it a great atmosphere.”

Over 20,000 people were in attendance at Family Fest last year.

If you are interested in seeing the Steelers at training camp, tickets are on sale right now if you call the greater Latrobe athletic office.
