PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - It remains unclear exactly when the report of a grand jury probe of clergy sex abuse in a number of Pennsylvania Catholic dioceses will be released.

Challenges have been filed to the office of Attorney General’s proposed interim redacted report.

A judge appointed by the state Supreme Court must now resolve the challenges so the report can be released by next Tuesday.

Objections to the report have prevented its release since June. The names of most of the clergy members who have challenged the report remain under seal.

The Attorney General’s office will publish what it calls an “honest and compressive” accounting of abuse by 300 priests in six Pennsylvania diocese, including Pittsburgh.

On the KDKA Radio Afternoon News Bishop Zubik apologized on his behalf and the church and said that the diocese will do all that it can to help those affected and make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.

Zubik adds he will release the names involved in Pittsburgh because he doesn’t want to lose the trust, “of my own people or at least build the trust or build up trust with the public in general.”
