(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - According to a new study, Pennsylvania workers spent about $2,630 on average in 2019 on after-work drinks.

Alcohol.org surveyed 3,000 workers and asked them how often they go out for drinks after work and what they spend on average.

Data found that PA workers spent $2,627 this year on drinks between 4 and 6 p.m.

The study also found that after-work drinking sessions last about 1.8 hours per PA workers.

That may seem like a lot but it’s below the national average of $3,035.

Data also showed that 1/3 of workers think after work drinks with fellow employees is a good time to bond.

Kentucky spent the most on average at $5,530 and Maine spent the least at $1,415.

“It’s easy to fall into a routine of having a couple of drinks after a tiring day, however, it is important to ensure you are not becoming dependent on alcohol by using it as a coping mechanism,” says Joy Sutton, spokesperson for Alcohol.org. “Alcohol use disorder is more common than people realize. It’s the No. 1 reason people seek treatment at American Addiction Centers. To evaluate if you or a loved one may have a problem, there is a free online assessment. We encourage people to reach out for help. Alcohol use disorder is treatable, but left untreated, will most likely get worse.”
