PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – It is officially buck season and across the Commonwealth hundreds and thousands of hunters are spreading out in the woods.

In Allegheny County, it’s a bit different.  Game Warden Dan Puhala tells the KDKA Radio Morning news that buck and doe seasons run concurrently.

“I would advise anyone to consultant the website or the digest to make sure that if they are hunting somewhere else they know which areas have concurrent seasons.”

Game Warden Puhala adds that hunters must wear a minimum of 250 square inches of fluorescent on their head, chest and back, “It’s very important, I know a lot of hunters don’t think a whole lot about it but it’s really important to make sure other hunters can see you.”

The Pennsylvania Game Commission says hunters shot over 163,000 bucks last year, the second largest harvest since 2002.
