PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) The sudden drop in temperature and snowfall overnight Monday brought upon issues for drivers all day Tuesday.

The commute home was made busy for drivers and road crews thanks to the many icy roads and heavy snow during the day.

The inclement weather lent its hand to a large number of accidents and delays throughout the Pittsburgh area and beyond.

A multi-car accident between Mercer and New Castle caused Interstate 80 westbound to be closed for multiple hours of the evening.

Route 28 southbound near Harmer saw an overturned vehicle, causing a slowdown.

An accident in Cranberry brought delays on Interstate 79 as well at the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The Liberty Bridge was closed for a time to be salted and to clear ice.

There have been many more reports of icy roads, sliding vehicles, and accidents throughout the city thanks to the icy conditions.

Despite the multitude of accidents and traffic problems, there were no injuries to report.

Most of the accidents and complications were taken care of and roads have reopened.

The colder temperature is set to stay for the time being as the high for Wednesday will be around 33 degrees.

Temperatures are set to rise Thursday.
