The Pennsylvania Resources Council has announced its August scheduled for their Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program.

The program benefits those who live in neighborhoods tat no longer innclude glass in their curbside recycling collections.

“This pilot program expands PRC’s current glass recycling collection opportunities by providing residents with a safe method for recycling glass while eliminating the need to interact with other individuals or touch shared surfaces,” according to PRC Environmental Program Coordinator Ashley DiGregorio.  “Self-serve glass drop off is available during daylight hours on a weekly basis from Saturday through Thursday, and bin sites are strictly monitored at all times.”

The schedule for August is as follows:

August 1 – 6 at Kilbuck Township Municipal Building
upper parking lot, 343 Eicher Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237

August 8 – 13 at Quaker Valley High School
625 Beaver Street, Leetsdale, PA 15056

August 15 – 20 at Mt. Lebanon Park
Commissioner’s Lot, 900 Cedar Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15228

The program is free. The PRC says you can drop off glass bottles, jars, and jugs of all colors (no color sorting required).  Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on.

If you use bags or boxes to drop off you glass items, you'll need to dispose of those  elsewhere.
