Closures will start around 9:30AM

July 23, 2019 - 2:32 am

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The funeral and memorial service for fallen Pittsburgh Police Officer Calvin Hall will be held at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum in Oakland at 11AM on Tuesday. The burial will take place afterwards at Homewood Cemetery.

Pittsburgh Public Safety and PennDOT say closures will take place throughout the morning beginning around 9:30AM Tuesday morning to accommodate the procession of police officers that will travel from the North Shore to Oakland as well as the funeral procession from Soldiers & Sailors to Homewood Cemetery. Roads are expected to reopen once the procession clears each area.

Fifth Avenue in Oakland will be temporarily closed for a short time before and after the funeral service. At least one lane of Fifth Avenue will be closed during the service due to the large number of law enforcement expected to be in attendance. Once vehicles have been parked, at least two lanes of Fifth Avenue and the busway will be reopened during the service.

Inbound HOV lanes will be open and will not have occupancy restrictions in order to ease the burden on morning commuters.

Road & Bridge Closures:

  • Fort Duquesne Bridge
  • SR 65 Inbound in the area of the West End Bridge
  • SR 279 Onramp to Ft. Duquesne Bridge
  • Fort Pitt Tunnel and Bridge inbound to SR 376 E and the E. Carson-Ft. Pitt Bridge Onramp
  • Grant St. Access to SR 376 E
  • SR 376E between Downtown and Oakland Exits

Drivers are advised to avoid Oakland area, especially Fifth Avenue and Forbes Avenue, and North Shore.
