PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — The mystery of the missing books and pages from Carnegie Library may have been solved.

In connection with the missing and damaged rare documents, the Allegheny County District Attorney's office is charging the rare book room’s sole archivist for over 25 years 61-year-old Greg Priore of Oakland, and 54-year-old John Schulman of Squirrel Hill. Schulman owns Caliban Book Shop, where the DA says many of the valuable items were found.

Both men turned themselves in for arraignment Friday morning. The each face several charges including conspiracy and theft.

The value of the items stolen and damaged over 20 years is estimated at more than $8 million.
