Two More Suspected Cases Of West Nile Virus In Allegheny County

It would be the 4th and 5th cases of the virus this year

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting fourth and fifth cases of probable West Nile Virus among humans this year.

One victim lives in Morningside, the other in Point Breeze. Both are over 55 and are recovering.

West Nile is spread by mosquito bites and cannot be spread from person to person. Most victims have no symptoms. Some get a fever, headache, or a rash.

A very few can get inflammation of the brain or spinal cord.

Most cases happening during mosquito season which runs from April till November.
