U.S. Steel Fined For Clairton Coke Works Violations

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Allegheny County Health Department has issued at $361,400 worth of penalties against U.S. Steel for violating Air Pollution regulations.

Those violations occurred at the Clairton Coke Works during the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020.

In accordance with the health departments agreement with U.S. Steel last June, 90 percent or $325,260 will be paid to the Community Benefit Trust for communities impacted by the pollution and 10 percent or $36,140 going to the Clean Air Fund.
