PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – The Pittsburgh area could get hit with the first taste of winter overnight into Thursday.   Meteorologist Dave Bowers tells the KDKA Radio Afternoon news, “This is a messy storm coming our way.  The precipitation I think in the city probably doesn’t reach us until about six or seven a.m. Thursday during the morning rush.”

What to expect Thursday morning:

Bowers says, “It is going to be sleet and freezing rain for probably most of the morning because it is probably going to take until about 11 a.m. or noon to get to above 32 degrees.” (The overnight low is 25 degrees)

“Then it just goes over to a cold rain for much of the rest of the day.”

Thursday evening:

“We will see the flip side of the storm later in the evening and it will change over to snowflakes and we will probably pick up a couple of inches of snow by the Friday morning commute.”
