HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Governor Tom Wolf has announced a guide for parents and their children on how to better handle summer programs and other childcare options for the season.

The guide, or FAQ, hopes to illuminate how to strategize summer child care programs, camps, and entities as the state continues through its reopening process.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health answers questions in the FAQ revolving around which programs are permissible as businesses open back up.

The guide also talks about child and youth program requirements for yellow-phase counties, categorizing fully indoor, full outdoor and combination programs, spelling out limits on group sizes, the staff and operator requirements and restrictions at facilities, organized team sports and public playgrounds, and how to navigate pools and bathing locations.

The FAQ only addresses non-public school programs.

“We understand the need to secure child care options as parents and caregivers return to work across the state,” Governor Wolf said.

“And for providers of these programs to understand how they may operate. We hope that this guidance helps everyone in need of viable options for their children’s care and recreation this summer and eliminates some of the stress and worry associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and how it is affecting our everyday lives.”
