Woman Who Claims She Has COVID-19 Coughed On PA State Trooper

The Washington County woman, who had multiple warrants, is in custody

WASHINGTON, Pa (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Washington County woman with multiple warrants, is in custody and while being arrested coughed on a Pennsylvania State Trooper telling them she had coronavirus.

Troopers were called to a domestic altercation on Pike Street in Houston, PA on Sunday.

When police arrived on the scene, they spoke with a juvenile and were told that two adults had been in a verbal dispute but had left the scene.

Troopers left and an hour later were notified by an off-duty police officer traveling on Pike Street who appeared to be “disheveled and bleeding.”

The off-duty officer called 911 and troopers returned.

While speaking with the woman, identified as Jessica Lee Harvey, troopers noticed she appeared to be intoxicated and had injuries.

She said the injuries were from falling earlier that day and an ambulance arrived but Harvey refused to be treated.

After police learned Harvey had multiple warrants out for her arrested she was taken into custody.

As the trooper was putting Harvey’s seatbelt on, she coughed on the trooper and said, “I have the coronavirus and I hope that you have it now.”

State Police say Harvey continued to cough on the trooper and urinated on her seat while she was being transported to the Washington County Jail.

Harvey faces charges of Terroristic Threats, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness, bail was set at $25,000.

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office served a request that she be given a coronavirus test.

She was tested at the Washington County Jail without further incident.

The result of her test is not currently known.

State Police say they will “prosecute to the fullest extent of the law and seek restitution from individuals who intentionally spread COVID-19
