'Love Your Neighbor' To Showcase Small Business Owners

I’ve started something sweet and fun on my afternoon radio show (3-6pm right here on Newsradio 1020 KDKA) that I think you all will enjoy. Actually, I know you’ll love it. It’s a new show segment called “Love Your Neighbor.” These are strange times, to be sure. The one certainty is that we are all in the same boat. Regardless of your zip code or finances or current job situation, this crisis hurts all of us. Love Your Neighbor encourages us to slow down and remember all the beautiful stuff we too often take for granted. The restaurants your family enjoys visiting. The dry cleaner who impeccably launders your clothes. The hair stylist or salon tech you makes you feel pretty. The people whose small businesses make your slice of community that much sweeter. These folks are the lifeblood of your neighborhood... and they need us now more than ever.

So here’s the plan.

Each day as we weather this crisis, I’m going to have one of these business owners on the show. I want you to hear their voices and learn about what they do. Who they are. Whom they serve. How they are hurting during these difficult and unknown times. There’s a opportunity for each of us to lift these struggling business owners up. To pick up dinner from their restaurant, to buy a gift certificate to their salon, or to find a way to connect some dots that may help them when help is needed most.

This is where you come into the plan.

I need ideas! If you’re a small business owner who’s holding on but you have services that you want people to know about and support... particularly if you’re pitching in to help your neighbors or community, please let me know. Send me a email to Wendy@KDKARadio.com with pictures of your business and your story! Tell me how I can contact you, and let’s get you on the radio so your neighbors can show their love.

Wondering how such a radio interview will sound? Listen to my podcast with Alex Nicholas, the owner of Mia Madre Trattoria in Avalon. It’s tender and sweet and wonderful in every way! Alex is offering a wonderful $25 special right now for a delicious takeout dinner for four.

THIS is what I’m after. Share yours story with me today!
